Outfit of the Day: A Day of Dinner Preparation

 Anyone else spending part of the day doing dinner preparation and house cleaning? Those are my plans for today. I want to go to the post office, but if the rain doesn't let up, maybe not. It doesn't make sense to drive a block away for a letter.

Long time no see!

I think I am back! The house is almost settled in, and after this weekend, it will just be Tim and I around here. My mom will be here in a couple of hours and I can't wait to see her.

Finally got around to unpacking my clothing yesterday. Living out of a suitcase and moving to the states left me with a rather lackluster wardrobe of things I didn't care if they got dirty or torn. It is nice to have a selection again.

 We made a trip to Target, and even Tim couldn't pass up on shoes for $6.49. These are very comfy and light, perfect for the hot weather. I think we are technically living in a valley, so it is hot these days, such a change from back in Vancouver, and having the ocean next door.

Outfit of the (yester)Day: The Magpie Effect

In the last little bit I have picked up three feather printed things. I don't think I will pick up anything else, but there is something about the feathers that just draw me to them. I think birds have the same effect too, sort of magpie like. Feather printed things = Shiny things to me according to this rational.

Outfit of the Day: Little black party dress

I am off to a party with a theme, can you guess it? I hope so or I didn't do well. Which might actually be the case, I'm not very good at theme dressing in general.

 I love this dress, simple shape, but has lots of fun and movement in it.

Ootd: Just a Quick Jump(er)

Just a little ootd, not too much going on today. I plan on making some cornbread next and watching Game of Thrones tonight. Supposed to be interesting, so let's see. Did anyone catch it yet?

I normally wear this jumper by itself in the summer, thought I would try it layered today. The original idea was to  pair it with stripes, but I don't have any, go figure. Why is it still tights weather too?

Ootd: well...

Of yesterday! No one wants to see me in my work clothes, so not awesome. 

I think this past weekend was one of the best ones I had had in a long time. When people would ask me how my weekend was, I would keep on bursting into a big grin. Between hanging out with most of my close friends, eating good food, getting outside, and just relaxing, it was really enjoyable. 

Since yesterday was the tamer day of the weekend, just simple pants and a top.

Ootd: well of yesterday!

Ahh what a busy but fun weekend so far!  Spent Friday filling out forms and putting together a paperwork package.  Please keep your fingers crossed for us, I will let people know what is going on once we get some updates.  Saturday we went with a lovely realtor to check out 11 different houses in the Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland area.  Wow, I was impressed by quite a few, but some were on the ehh side.  I am flabbergasted by what you can get in those areas for such a low price compared to the Greater Vancouver area, it is crazy!  

Tim had an event at his old school with some networking, so while he did that, I went around downtown Seattle to check out some shops and kill time.  Of course, if you know me, you know where I ended up...

Found a few goodies at the store, one had a really small flaw, so they gave me 20% off both of the pieces I chose.  I was very impressed with the service that day.  Tried on the field skirt in yellow, but I already have a yellow skirt. That taupe jacket by Tabitha, was very cute, but I wasn't sold for some reason yet, if we go to University Village today, I might consider it.  Spliced Ikat shift, was cute but a bit clingy on my hips.  The other two items, well you can clearly see one, and the other is behind me.  Both were on second cut + 20% off? I was sold.

Ended the day with going to Facing East Taiwanese restaurant in Bellevue.  So good, I always enjoy what we have there.

 Stir-fried Green Beans.  Onion, garlic, delicious, we ate them all...

Pork Fried Rice, mmmm eggy and tasty, not all stuck together in clumps.

Not sure of the plans today, but perhaps Korean BBQ?  We aren't superbowl people, so maybe places will be really quiet today.  Happy Sunday everyone!

Ootd: just a quick one

Quick simple outfit for running errands, maybe stopping by a pub tonight to celebrate a birthday.  What does one wear to a pub?  I think the last time I went to one was about 5 years ago...

Oh no, fashion no-no ahead! Black and brown! Just kidding, I always wear black and brown together.

I think I can stick to wearing this though, warm jacket on top and good to go!  

Oh short boots, where have you been all my life?  I love how light weight, comfy, and easy to wear they are.

Anthro-inspired outfit part 2

Having already covered the Anthro-inspired look for casual wear, the next step would be the dressed up one.  When I think of Anthropologie what first comes to mind is one part whimsy, one part pattern, and one part unique.  Using these three parts, I can create my own inspired looks using different brands and price points.

This is an outfit I wore on Saturday to one of my work's holiday parties.  I will have a few more chances to dress up this month, and while I considered wearing the ruffian dress + cascading tulle cardigan (as worn here by Laura at Anthro Closet Chaos) at the last minute I changed my mind.  It was a good thing too, most people showed up in jeans or leggings.  Granted we were at a house, but I was still over-dresses.

So looking at my outfit, it was broken down into whimsy (the floral patterned tiered dress), pattern (tights), and unique (sequin drape vest).  Throw in a pair of boots, and I was all set.  My first choice for shoes were a pair of brown heels with snakeskin patterned wrapped heels from Aldo, but it was pouring rain out.  Not too practical to walk around Vancouver in.

I will admit that the best part of the outfit was that outside of shoes, the total cost was $37 before taxes.  All pieces can be worn again in different way, dressed up or down.

As I was poking around on the Ruche website, I found my dress! It is here, but apparently sold out.  The brand is called Mine, and if you are in Canada, check your Winners, it was on clearance for $20 there.
